All four of you still checking this blog, I mean? I really have nothing to say about my absence; I’ve been really busy, but also just really not feeling it. I’ve got months of backed-up blogs for you, SCADS of them, so many you’re going to tire of me, and now that in about a week I will be fully caught up on work for this lower-than-low season, I will have time to write them.
I’m just back from a week in Chicago, where I had important banking business to do to help make it easier to transfer/receive client funds, but I also managed to fit in some fun stuff.
Thanks to the genius that is Ben Wahhh at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago, my Virgen de Guadalupe tattoo is finally adorning my left arm. I couldn’t be happier with it.
Several years ago, I decided to get this particular tattoo to honor my time in Mexico, and when thinking of an image that represented Mexico to me, nothing was more perfect than the Virgin. Plus, I’ve always liked religious imagery (although I am not religious myself) and well, look at her…she’s gorgeous. Another thing I love about this tattoo is how it is already bridging a gap between me and the Mexican people I live around. It’s a great conduit for conversation, smiles, and positive comments; I’ve been home 2 days and have already talked about it so much.

By the way, now is the time to come to Playa del Carmen, airfare is GREAT and this flu nonsense is under control. I have my own theories about why all this was blown so far out of proportion, but I’ll keep them to myself for now.
Back soon as I can be, I promise. I miss you like crazy.
It’s awesome! What a perfect choice! I have to agree la Virgen of Guadalupe says México to me more than any other image.
regards,
Theresa

Wow, you look great and the tat is fantabulous!!! We’re not mad at you, but we’re giving you the puppy dog eyes and asking if you’re going to leave us again or if you’ll stay and play with us a while. Life is better with a little Heather in it.

What they said. And it is a really great tattoo.
I am pretty sure our theories about why this swine flu business was blown out of proportion are the same. Bastards.
Good to “see” you again.

Welcome home Heather, both back to Playa and back to the blog. I have missed reading you but I completely understand “not feeling it”. I too am in that place, trying to make the transition back from blogging about Guatemala to blogging about everyday Playa life. Can’t wait to check out that gorgeous tatoo in person!! Love it!

“Is everyone just super mad at me?”
Naahh… since you leave traces elsewhere on the web it’s not that hard to get an idea what you’ve been up to.
Have to admit to be a bit surprised to see a new entry here, though.
The tat is pretty cool and looks well done. And the “bridge” is probably a nice side-effect, huh?! (-:

So obviously you have more than 4 readers.
I actually read your posts a lot but don’t comment because a lot of times I’m holding the baby, or just being to lazy to comment. The tat is very well done and looks great on you. Congrats.
Oh and I have a feeling a lot of us have the same conspiracy theory about the blow up of the flu.

Great tat Heather. I totally understand, this lower-than-low season has zapped my motivation! A little beach/me time generally snaps me right out of it!

I was very glad to see this today, I had almost stopped checking!
Great art on your arm! She is really beautiful.
I got my first tat last week in Florida, much to the surprise of my kids.
It’s not visible to everyone but I like knowing it’s there.
Looking forward to reading you more often again.

I love tattoos and don’t for a minute regret having any of them, I’m currently getting a dragon tattoo sleeve done down my left arm can’t wait to get it all done! as can only afford smallsittings at a time. My local tattoo artist is very experienced and also extremly expensive but, he’s worth it! Fantastic site btw
