As I’ve mentioned, M. and I got engaged. We don’t have a lot of money and so we didn’t plan on my getting an engagement ring, but when M. realized that I’m not the “big rock” type of girl and we started looking at rings I like, he sort of made the mistake of mentioning I could get an engagement ring.
We found it. I’m so in love with it. It reminds me of antique, art-deco type of jewelry and I can pretend it was handed down to me from family.
I’m in correspondence with the independent jeweler on etsy (my FAVORITE site!) to see if we can get this delivered by May.
OMG, I’m such a girl.

It’s a 1.65 carat sapphire (my birthstone) surrounded by diamonds, set in white gold. I’m embarrassed at how pretty I think it is.
Check out the jeweler’s store on etsy: EidelPrecious Her work is GORGEOUS and the prices are fair.
Heather,
I love, love, love the ring. It is beautiful. So, you went from not getting a ring to getting THAT ring. Very nice.

I know. I can’t even believe someone is willing to give me something that beautiful. It’s not in my nature to spend a lot of money on jewelry (or on anything, really), but this really is not bad for something I am going to love for the rest of my life.

I really love that ring too. I happen to have a three stone anniversary ring in white gold with two diamonds and a center sapphire. I’ve had it for thirty years and still love it. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!

Darla, the three stone ring with the center sapphire is the ring I have ALWAYS thought I would have for an engagement ring…it’s just not in our cards financially, and I fell head over heels for this ring. I’ll have to make sure to do well and get that three-stone ring in the future. Those types of rings are so lovely, I look forward to it.

Johnny, didn’t you just win 10K for being funny? That ring is only 1,000 usd. Don’t make me call her up and tell her.

I apologize for not having congratulated you in your announcement post, but congratulations! About a thousand years ago I was engaged and the ring was not your typical – it was diamonds and emeralds and really not obnoxious – I LOVE your ring and it’s unique-ness! You deserve all the happiness coming to you! Yay!

Heather, I love your comment that your beautiful ring has the feel of something being handed down by family. I did not receive an engagement ring, but my future husband had the diamonds removed from his mother’s engagement ring (she’s had a few “upgrades”!) and the small diamonds and sapphires (also MY birthstone) from his grandmothers 21st birthday earrings from HER father and had them made into a gold channel set ring sandwiched between two platinum bands with the little sapphires. WITHOUT consulting me! The man has B***s, and excellent taste. I cried so hard when I saw it, one of my contacts slid out of my eye. Your ring is stunning and unique, I suspect not unlike yourself. AND it obviously comes to you with a great deal of love and caring. Lucky, Lucky Girl. Wear it well…..

Yes, although I’d say it was more for being at the right place at the right time than for being funny….unfortunately it wasn’t tax-free, and what was left paid for my new roof. (which is leaking, but that’s another story….) Still….our anniversary is in Sept, so maybe.
