I went to DC and all I got was this lousy Obama button

I’m back from my week-long trip to Washington DC, arriving late last night and happy to be home.  I’m buried in backlogged emails, but will be telling you all about what I did and saw soon.  I am also really sick with a cold/cough/cold sores/fever, etc.  Does anyone else always get sick after they fly?

Here is where I went:  Holocaust Museum, American History Museum, National Mall, Target, Goodwill, Ross Dress for Less, and more.  I managed to make it out of the US without overweight baggage fees, can I get a huzzah for that one?

Oh, I also attended this little fiesta Washington was throwing to swear in the 44th President of the United States, called an Inauguration, during which a man named Barack Obama was sworn in as the new leader of the free world.  Perhaps you’ve heard of him?

Here’s a tease, free of charge.

  1. OH MY GOD You went to Ross? I mean, the Inauguration?!!!

  2. Can’t wait to hear all about it. We thought of you often and looked in the crowd shots for you. btw, we L-U-V Adam and Martina! They are our new best friends and swore an allegiance to Isla over Playa. na na na!

  3. Funny…. It looks freezing.

  4. Absolutely beautiful picture…captures the event and you so well. This needs to be framed.

I have a little burst of pride that you attended and were the “rep” for playa….

  5. I am so with Bluberry – yes, I am so proud and envious of you and the many good folk I know who attended the inauguration. Working in an academic setting I’ve had convos with several people who attended – each bursting and glowing at what an incredible experience it was being there and experiencing it, albeit from afar.

I know I was in tears all day watching and positively glowing watching our President and his lovely First Lady dancing at the inaugural balls.

No doubt this experience has hugged you from the inside and I cannot wait to hear more!

  6. Welcome back!!! We can’t wait to hear and see more!!!

  7. How did you get out w/o baggage fees? I shopped so much when I was in IL, I had to have mom send me 2 boxes (still waiting on the other one of course). I get sick after flying too. Unless I take airborne which I forgot this time and was sick for a whole week after getting back.

  8. OMG Heather!!! The pictures says it all !!!! You were sooooo there!!!

  9. What fun. I love the pics. I must say that I am equally as surprised about Ross and the lack of an overweight luggage fee as I am about the inauguration. Very cool. Can’t wait to hear more.

  10. Glad to see you back!! I’ll bet it wasn’t as cold as Winterpeg. Hope to hear more.
