I have had no internet at home, this is Day 3. I’m too busy at work to blog from there, so when I’m back up and running I’ll be blogging regularly again. I actually have DTs from the withdrawal.
CableMas SWEARS they will send a technician tomorrow between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm. It’s very helpful of them to narrow it down like that, isn’t it? I’m sure I will get a TON of work done tomorrow while waiting for them to show up at 1.50 pm. Do I sound bitter?
Charter Comm. gives us even more reverse-flexibilty…8-5.

That’s about the same range we get from cable people out here too so it’s def not just there. Half the time they also transfer me to about 10 diff people who also say you have to pay for this and this before you can talk to the next person. I usually have to fake cry to get anything done.

Cable Menos is probably the worst company to be with, and right now I think you have better options get online. 1. Telmex, 2. Telcel, 3.Iusecell.
Telcel or Iusacell seems to be a very good option, and it cost like 600 pesos a month for high speed internet. Check it out.
Hope you have internet soon guapa!

Heather,
Congrats on the blog. I just found it and it’s quite entertaining. Since misery allegedly loves company, when I arrived in Playa on Sunday, I realized that I had none of the international canales that I paid for. My property manager called them today and they are supposed to send a technician out to look at it between March 2009 and Feb 2010. OK, that’s a lie, but sometimes there’s more truth than poetry in such comments when it comes to dealing with Cablemenos as I’m fond of calling them. They are supposed to be here between 9 and 2 pm tomorrow. I’m not holding my breath, but we shall see as the man said.

Is there a diminutive to Cablemenos? Maybe Cablemenissimos?
Forgot to mention in my post since you mentioned one of the things you miss most is a good library (or bookstore), my wife brings a Sony Digital Reader for that reason, although I’ve read that the Kindle is an improvement. Once you get used to reading on it, you can take a library with you. For me, since I read more non-fiction than fiction and a lot of magazines and newpapers, take a look at http://www.highbeam.com. They have over 3500 journals, newspapers and mags online. It’s not cheap, but for less than 10 bucks a week, it’s a great resource. My wife teaches law, so she has access to Lexis-Nexis, which is a similar service but ethically, I can’t really use her access, so I signed up for High Beam. If anybody is truly a news junkie and finds it hard to keep up while in Playa, check it out. You can always get a trial subscription and then cancel it if you don’t want to cough up the money.
