I am not fit to be around humans today. The bar was out of La Pinta last night so I had to drink shots of Centenario to deaden the pain of recognizing that as a Cubs fan I am doomed to a lifetime of misery and failure. And my poor grandmother, who is in her last days, will have spent her entire life rooting for a team that never rewarded her loyalty.
The entire organization needs to be done away with. Tear Wrigley Field down brick by brick. I’m done with the lot of them. This time I mean it.
Let’s be White Sox fans.

Now there’s an idea, Anthony. I don’t know if I can do that, though.

Girl, you’re born & bred to be a Cub fan, it’s in your blood. One day they’ll come through for ya. Hold your head high, it shows you’re loyal, that’s something to be extremely proud of. Now, the bar running out of La Pinta for ya, that’s just wrong.

It made me sick I tell ya SICK!!! Kevin and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with our sweet little cousin Kelly and her boyfriend Jim. Nothing like being drunk and happy in a bar at 12:15 a.m. and then the room becomes quiet.
AND POOR GRANDMA!!!!

now, now, dear grasshopper. two mantras you must master before you can find internal peace and happiness: “just wait ’til next year” and ” hope springs eternal.” once you internalize these thoughts, the bricks of wrigley will not have to be brought down as you will have the strength of those bricks. true wisdom comes with time, age, and experience and you are but young like a spring flower seeking the sun.

Hi Heather,
I been reading your blog for the past few months now, and as a Chicago girl, and life long Cubs fan, I have to make a comment.
You’ll be back, and so will I. Even though I’ve been calling them those loosers for the past few days. As soon as the winter meetings get underway, and new deals are made, hope will spring eternal again.
And, where was my 83 year old grandmother and lifelong Cubs fan while I was home drowning my sorrows in mini snickers bars? At a local latin club, drinking scotch and water, and asking younger guys to dance. While keeping tabs on the games on the TV there. Next year I’m hanging with Grannie.

Jackie: I know you’re right. It doesn’t make me happy, though.
Jenny: It’s Grandma’s fault we’re Cubs fans, so maybe it’s her I should be mad at!
Herb: Hope is the thing with feathers, I know.
Lisa: Welcome! I know we’ll both be alright and will come back. I’m already off the ledge and it’s only been a couple of days. By Spring Training I’ll be back on the horse. I just wish I could get mad and STAY mad at those no good bums! We should all have your granny’s attitude!

A good fan is like a good friend. There through thick and thin. You’ll be singing their praises again. And I hope soon!
