Well, just 22 days after the first postcard was sent, I have FINALLY received some mail from our little project–and when it rains, it POURS!!
Four pieces of mail at home and four pieces of mail at the office, and I have to tell you, folks, my faith in the Mexican postal service has not been bolstered. Since it all arrived on the same day, I had to check the date stamps for its arrival here in Playa del Carmen in order to be able to choose a “winner” for the blog contest.
The winning card and postcard were postmarked as having arrived on July 7 and July 8, and all the runners up arrived on July 9. Which means my cards sat at the post office for 6-8 days before they deigned to deliver them. I’ve changed up the rules a bit and decided to make it the first card and the first postcard received from the US, and then whatever comes first from a Mexican address, so three winners instead of 2. ‘Cause I’m just all crazy like that.
Here are the results, sorry I can’t scan them! I’m buying a scanner soon, I promise.
Winners:
Laura Map Chick, whose postcard of a giant ear of corn in Iowa is JUST my thing.
Islaholic Trixie: whose bawdy little card obliquely referring to battery-operated bedroom devices might just get framed.
Ladies, each of you have earned the right to choose a blog topic for me, on any subject (well, almost any) and I will write them up as soon as I can. Just leave your instructions in a comment.
Here is a list of the other cards and postcards I received today:
Herb in Mundelein
Martina in Chicago
Beth in Chicago (both postcards, baby!)
Jan in Minnesota
Jackie in Manitoba (at least, I think that is what MB stands for, isn’t it? Ah, I love being geographically challenged)
I will continue to post these updates, THANK YOU for playing.
I never win anything!! Oh well…I am very happy that you finally received mail and you hit the jackpot. You may not have a scanner, but how about just a pic of all your loot!!

I didn’t realize it was a race. Mine was in bubble envelope as to not squish the sound chip. I should get something for that…if you get it

Nothing from Mexico yet? I still have a chance! I have just the topic picked out too! You can always bring your loot up here and we can scan it in while sitting at the dining room table, bottle of wine each!

Wow, that’s not bad, didn’t get sent until about the 27th of June. It is MB as in Manitoba. That’s okay Heather, there’s a lot of Canadians that don’t know that MB is Manitoba.

Un milagro!
“sorry I can’t scan them”
Why don´t you just make a digital photo of each and put all the photos together then (or post single photos)? Should be fine, too.

I won!!! I won!!! Can I think about the subject for a few days? I’m in the process of planning our 25 year class reunion for this weekend.
Glad you liked the card, I about pissed my pants in the store reading it. One of those depends moments!! (Especially after the blog on battery operated toys and inopertune (?) moments for them to appear)lol

Fned, great plan, but how will I know when it’s the LAST card? Three years from now, I’m quite sure I will still be receiving postcards from this experiment.

taking a digital picture of the postcards is a great idea… i took a photo of a t-shirt that had a photo on it for my MIL who liked the tshirt but would never wear it because she didn’t want to ruin the photo that was taken at the state fair of ryan and ashley… i took a close up pic of just the pic on the tshirt and framed it for her… worked great…
