So far, 12 people have let me know they’re going to participate in my Mexican Postal Service Experiment by sending me a postcard/letter. I’m going to make this a bit more fun for you with a little contest.
The senders of both of the first postcards received from out of Mexico as well as in-country will get to order me to write a blog of their choice, on ANY topic. I promise not to hold back on virtually anything, but please let’s leave the clown porn out of the equation, K?
I don’t like clowns.

Taking mine to the Post Office RFN!!
“Cause my team never loses!!”
I’m all set!!!! Where’s the address? Here’s a fun thing to do with postcards. I totally SUCK at mailing things and everyone who knows me (or God forbid is related to me) has just accepted this over the years. I was going on a trip and when I retrieved my suitcase I found some postcards from a previous trip to a different place. I took them with me and wrote and sent them. It began a great tradition with my friends. I always take the cards from hotels etc. and they are a ‘fixed’ item in my case so I have an assortment to choose from and NEVER send a card from the actual place. That’s why I have Niagara cards even though I live here.
Vanessa: I’m afraid for what blog topic you will choose if yours arrives first!! Yikes.
Beanie: I sent the address yesterday…check your junk mail. Niagara Falls! Slowly I turn…step by step…inch by inch….
Here is a bit more information: I sent the card yesterday at 4:45pm from SE Wisconsin. The postage was $1.53…but to note, it required extra postage. I think it was due to the size as well as the content of the card. I was told it would take ‘about a week…to Mexico’ was a crisp laugh and and knowing nod.
Heather, I can see you there…with a wall map and push pins meticulously plotting for your experiment.
And don’t worry, I already know what I’m going to ask. I’m going easy on you. The other questions can wait for another time and place.
so how much will a postcard be to mail?
and how will I ever win if I don’t mail the thing???
Char, I have no idea. I haven’t lived in the US for almost 4 years…whatever it is, I can reimburse you when I see you next, aren’t you coming in August? Did you get the address?
okay, edit that… if I COULD… usps says 72 cents to mail a postcard to mexico…
do you think they’ll read what I write on there… heh heh heh….
WHAT? You thought THAT’S why I was asking? For REIMBURSEMENT purposes?? Sheesh. I just didn’t want to have to go INTO the post office; I want to do a drive by…
GAH, Char, I wasn’t sure…don’t be mad at me. Stop yelling at me!! Waaaahhhhh.
What’s with all the clowns around town lately? Have you seen them? I saw one browsing the DVDs in Wal-Mart the other day and I always see them on the 5th. I know it’s low season and all, but SHEESH! I think they’re creepy, too.
Stop crying, ya big baby… before I give you something untoward to cry about!
Heather,
The card is in the mail. I even over stamped it to make sure I didn’t screw up on this end of the delivery. It should be postmarked tonight from Portland, Oregon.
The USPS website states that delivery times to Mexico “varies”. Well we all know that! Isn’t what you are trying to capture here?
This will be fun to follow! Thanks for the entertainment.
Heather, I didn’t get it??? Checked junk and nothing there. Can you resend? I actually live in St.Catharines next city to the Falls but it’s the Niagara Region. We are only 8 minutes from the Falls and the US border. Niagara Region=Wine Country and we invented Ice Wine here.
