Why I have not been blogging

8.00 am: Michael wakes me up to let me know he is leaving for work. I go back to sleep for about 15 or 20 more minutes

8.30 am: I sit at the computer in my underwear with a cup of coffee and check work email remotely, Playa.info, myspace, and the Chicago Tribune

9.30 am: I start thinking how I really should get in the shower and go to work

10.00 am: I really start thinking I have to just get it over, take a shower, and go to the office already!

10.30 am: I realize I haven’t written a blog in days, feel guilty about it, then get in the shower

11.00 am: I am finally at the office and start answering the emails I couldn’t answer from home

6.10 pm: Holy crap, I am still at work! Why didn’t I start earlier? What an idiot!

6.30 pm: Ok, home from work. I’m STARVING because I didn’t leave the office for lunch or eat breakfast. Oh crap, what are we going to do for dinner? Scour the kitchen for ingredients to make something-anything for dinner, just as long as I don’t have to go to the freaking store. I’m sorry, honey, I thought you liked canned tuna and tomatoes with cut up hotdogs on leftover hot dog buns. How was I supposed to know you didn’t? Look, it has peas! Your favorite.

7.00 pm: Time for my stories. WHAT?! What do you mean they’ve replaced “Scrubs” and “Seinfeld” with “Gray’s A-flipping-natomy”?! No! Nooooooooooooooooooo!

7.10 pm: Check work email again, from home. Think about how badly my dogs need walking and sit quietly until the guilt passes.

7.30 pm: Watch TV, flipping the channels incessantly until poor M. gets frustrated and goes to bed. Watch “Sex and the City” reruns until 11 pm

11.00 pm: Read blogs on the internets until I’m so bleary and tired I can’t see straight. Check work email one more time.

1.30-2 am: Finally fall into bed. If I’m lucky, I fall asleep right away. If my mind is still going, I get back up and distract myself until I pass out from sheer exhaustion.

And then the next thing you know, M. is tapping me on the leg, telling me it’s time for him to go to work. *sigh*

So consider my silence a gift from me to you. Because who wants to read this crap?

  1. That’s not crap. That’s life. Mostly. :)

Hey, at least you don’t post scary dental pics of your kids looking for blahg fodder… heh….

  2. I read it!!! It reminds me I’m not the only one who does almost exactly that!!!! thanks for making it two of us :D

  3. I read it!!

    I live for it!!

    I hunger for it!!!

  4. I read the whole thing…twice!

  5. yup..me too..
Somethings I feel there is no need to blog when I have done nothing but sit at my desk all day.Ah yes the guilt.

  6. I read it, in fact I check every day and am bummed if you don’t have a new post. You’re a great writer and you keep me entertained reading your blog. Don’t quit now!!!

  7. LOVE Scrubs. It’s basically the best show ever.

The very first event of your day sounds like the very first event of mine, except replace husband waking you up at 8 with husband waking me up at 7, and then replace sleeping 15-20 more minutes with sleeping 3 or 4 more hours, haha :)

  8. Sounds a bit like me putting off Yoga………. : )
Scrubs- YAY. You would be shocked how much truth is in it!!!
Love House as well……have you seen it? If not it is a MUST!
But hey- Greys Anatomy isn’t that bad. I watched it on DVD while getting through my flu last week and started loving it when all the interns sit together in the first episode and one says “Who else has no clue what he is doing?” and all of them raise their hands. That’ll be me starting on the 18th…………

Your blogs always brighten the day. I guess you could write about sitting and doing nothing for pages and I’d still love it. So keep it coming!!!

    HUGS

  9. ….I guess that clinches it….working for a living sucks, whether you live in paradise or not!

  10. I read it too!!!!

Get up at 8 AM as well and my daily schedule looks more or less like yours. ;) Nothing bad about it… *hehe*

    and I’m student,

  12. best. blog comment. ever.

  13. Ya know, after I read this post (and I think will all experience this lethargy that you’re experiencing) I immediately thought of another comment you made on a previous post.

Something about being in Tulum and living in your head, and finding that it wasn’t a scary place to be at all.

When nothing post-worthy is going on in my outer life, I often turn to what’s going on in my mind! Unfortunately, it’s not always upbeat though.

  14. 6:30 pm made me throw up a lil in my mouth

    peas or no peas

  15. Carole, the thing is, Michael hates peas. So I’m guessing he would throw up, too, if I actually made him something like that.
