Game Nazi Goes to Libby’s

Last night, my friends Libby and John had a party to celebrate Libby’s birthday. We were instructed to bring games, which scared me a little. I’ve been labeled (unfairly if you ask me) a “Game Nazi” by someone who admits that she only thinks that about me when I’m not on her team.

Just because a person knows all the rules and wants the game to be played right and is pretty good at the game herself, does that make her a Game Nazi? Oh, shut up. Who asked you?!

To me, this looks a little bit like pornography:

Our hosts, Libby and John, in their spacious kitchen that made my teeth hurt from the envy:

Don’t be fooled by the fluffy fatness of this cat and try to pet it while talking in a soothing baby voice. It bites.

Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Spinach/Artichoke Dip, Pico de Gallo, Chicken/Cheese Ball

Tyra, Sara, Michael, Steve

Getting ready to sing to Libby

Singing “Happy Birthday” and then “Feliz Cumpleaños” to Libby. Lucky for you this photo doesn’t come with sound.

Then, all of the Mexicans in attendance taught Libby an ancient tradition. As we shouted “Mor-di-da! Mor-di-da! Mor-di-da” at her (“bite”), Libby had to take the first bite directly from her cake.

She looks a little suspicious, but gamely goes for it. After all, it’s tradition!

The Money Shot. With friends like us, who needs friends??

Bring. It. On.

Could everyone please just STFU!! I can’t hear what John is saying! GOD!

Leslie, Steve, Claire, and Antonio…hustlers every one:

Jaime not only hums “Born to Be Wild,” but he plays a mean air guitar as well:

First time Antonio’s ever played a game in English and he spanked our bottoms:

Dammit, Jaime!! I KNEW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION!!

Libby, consorting with the enemy:

VICTORY!! VICTORY!! Suck it, bitches!!

  1. [...] I can’t BELIEVE you have a son who is 20! You look like a kid yourself! Here are some photos of last night. It was Libby’s birthday and what a fun time it was. I hope it’s ok to [...]

  2. Looks like a great time!!! I enjoyed the pics considering I now know just about everyone in them!!

And I’m not so sure we should ever get together and play board games unless we are on the same team. My mantra is “My team never loses!!” I’m hardcore!!

  3. WAIT!! I just noticed that you are playing Cranium!! That’s like the BEST.GAME.EVER!!!

  4. Hey! I recognize that spinach artichoke dip!!!

    Okay…I’m done leaving messages now….

  5. Hey Heather!

I love board games! I, too, know that I can kick some ass! hahaha! Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and Monopoly are my favorites. I am learning to play dominoes. I got an early start when I was six years old. Whenever I was losing, I would just get up and dump the board over. OOPS! There goes Candyland! My little friends would just sit there in shock. Then, I would make a dramatic exit and stomp home.

Fun party and the food looks good! That kitty doesn’t have a very friendly face, but he or she is cute!

  6. I got skills you neva seen before, come back to the states and you’ll get treated!

  7. Bitch, please. I will smoke you, fool.

  8. I’m an excellent game player. But perhaps a bit too fair minded. I trade “gimmes” and am okay with that.

  9. I’ll give anyone 4-1 odds playing Julie in Scrabble. That woman can talk real good.

  10. You may not want me on your team; I have a short attention, will quit the game and give my money away.

…but since I have no morals or ethics I will help you cheat.

  11. I love board games. I should play more. Looks like you had a lot of fun!

  12. Heather, You know that John spent weeks training Mindy to bite you, don’t ya?! ;)

  13. [...] more pics on Heather’s blog. Bookmark [...]

  14. I was witness to one of those birthday traditions…I believe…. Michael, Playa, before you lived there!! I didn’t get the money shot!
I usually get angry at all others while playing Apples to Apples….cheaters.
