The models here are looking encouraging again. I’ve been watching the models and satellite images all day. It’s amazing how small the Yucatan channel looks when you’re hoping for a hurricane to pass right in the middle of it without touching land on either side, then make a hard right and take its happy ass back out to the Atlantic.
We are prepared here. We’ve been through this 2 times before. Our supplies? Two cans of tuna, some dog food, and 6 cases of beer. Kidding, mom. Actually, we do have 6 cases of beer, but we have some other stuff, too.
What sucks the most about a hurricane? After the boards are up and you’re just sitting there waiting. It’s hotter than balls and without electric, you’ve got not even a fan breeze.
What’s the “best” thing about a hurricane? After it’s gone, but the power’s still out so you can’t go to work, so you sit in the front yard on folding chairs and have a hurricane party. And if the power’s still out the next day? Hook up the cooking gas and cook up all the meat you’ve got that’s now thawed and just start passing it around. Meat Fest 2007, you’re all invited.
