Dean Model update

Still early yet, but all the models except one seem to have shifted a bit south.  I’m hoping they shift a tiny bit more south so it might hit a less-populated area (though please let it not hit Honduras, where people are even more poor and living in very flimsy homes).  Michael and I are resigned to another big storm, though, and would rather be safe than sorry.  He picked up the plywood for the windows today already and we’re going tonight to shop for the other sundries so I don’t have to wait in a line as long as the one I waited in 2 years ago.  This time we’ll be staying in our house by ourselves, so no hurricane parties (that was the fun part, though!), but this storm is predicted to be fast moving, so hopefully it won’t be too long until things will be back to normal.  For Wilma, it took our street 2 weeks to get power back, we were the last street in all of Playa.

Although it sucks, I have to say that in the past 2 hurricanes, Playa was super lucky and had very superficial damage and recovered quickly.  I have no reason to think it will be otherwise this time, but if we have another bad High Season, I know quite a few people who’ll be leaving Playa.  Bummer
